How Long Should the Journey to Get Rid of Your Belly Fat Last?
Have you ever asked yourself how long it would take to turn yourself from a chubby couch potato into a magazine cover model? If you haven't, you probably should... because you might be overestimating how long it takes, or underestimating the necessary time and pushing your weight loss transformation too hard! So, what's the simple answer for the average belly weight loss ordeal? If you start by assuming that you're very out of shape, and want to get in perfect shape, then your belly weight loss journey should only take you about four months.
These four months include all parts of your body, but especially that stubborn belly where most people store the majority of their fat. A simple rule of thumb is that you shouldn't try to lose more than a couple pounds per week, on average - losing much more than this will switch your body into that dreaded 'I'm starving!' fat-retaining mode. The best weight loss methods take this into account and create a lifestyle you can be comfortable with, instead of trying to strip you of your fat all at once.
So, dieting, exercise, or both? The truth is that all three are viable options for anyone who wants to turn into their own before and after success story. If you're comfortable with aerobics, swimming, or other stamina-based exercises, you may want to put more effort into the exercise half of the equation. On the other hand, being lazy while limiting your food portions is another perfectly healthy way to get trim and fit. And a balanced route is also a good idea for some: if you want to pump up muscles so that your weight loss pics look sculpted, you'll need to emphasize protein sources in your diet. That means that you can keep on eating meat, but you'll really have to feel the burn when you're pumping those weights.
If you want a perfect schedule weight lose activities, start your exercise first thing in the morning! This is the best time to turn any routine into a weight loss success, since your body will be ready to lose fat without any warmup. If you schedule your exercise later in the day, you may need to workout for as long as half an hour just to get your body into the right mood for losing tummy fat. And yes, 'first thing' means even before breakfast; don't underestimate how the act of intaking food can slow down your body with a full stomach and lower your metabolism to levels that make it much harder to drop the pounds.
If you're ready to turn yourself into a real weight loss before and after model, the fastest methods are with cardio and reduced caloric intake. On the other hand, if you want to look ripped and not just thin, a weight-lifting regimen combined with plenty of red meat can also take off thirty pounds in less than half a year... but be ready to put in the extra few weeks!
did you know that saturated fat is not the biggest killer people think it is. the no.1 reason for heart disease (i believe) is the massive MASSIVE increase in sugar intake. Sugar and processed food is the biggest change in our diet in the past million years. ITS HUGE. Eat real foods. That could be picked, milked, or grown.

============
Lovingly DEDICATED to ARNOLD from STEVE, who believes in getting healthy for natural weight loss!
* I n s p i r a t i o n *
— What simple things can we do to improve our health?
— As for the diet, I encourage everyone to enjoy delicious whole fruits! Fruit is great for breakfast & for energy! Fruit washes the body clean, and energizes, lubricates & hydrates cells!
— Citrus is in season during the cold months, so enjoy it when you can! Have 5-8 oranges for breakfast & see how you feel! Or make a glass of fresh orange juice!
— Salads are full of fiber & are very alkalizing for the body's tissues! Acidosis & inflammation may become a thing of the past! Think of things like celery, cucumber & lettuce to make a delicious mixed green salad w/ a nice low fat salad dressing!
— If you focus on having raw, organic, fresh fruits & vegetables + small amounts of nuts & seeds as the basis of your diet you'll be automatically avoiding so many chemicals that are present in the so-called 'normal' foods of today such as soda pop, breads, NON-raw dairy products, processed carbohydrate snacks & sweets. These chemicals may disrupt the function of our bodies, w/ some people ending up overweight, others w/ kidney problems, others w/ psychological problems, etc.
— Educate your mind on RAW, LIVING FOODS! You do NOT have to be a 100% raw foodist, but I've observed that the higher the % of raw, organic fruits & veggies that one eats, the more energy that one's body is going to have to FUNCTION, as well as to HEAL one's self!
— Arnold & others who are looking to lose some serious weight might consider getting a juicer as adding green juices to your regular diet may accelerate healthy weight loss. All of my top picks for juicers are right here http://JUICERS.life-regenerator.com
— Also, if there's a juice bar near where you live and/or work, then go to it! Even I go to juice bars regularly! It's a great way to get another fresh, healthy juice into your system throughout the day, plus it is one of the few places that you can socialize where you won't be made fun of for turning into a health nut! :D
— The green juices are going to alkalize, hydrate & cleanse out all the old inflamed cells of the body! Try to have at least a juice a day! On the side of the healing, aim closer to the green juices w/ some of the more bitter, healing herbs & leafy greens in them such as dandelion greens, nettles, celery, kale, cilantro, etc.
— WALKING is important! WALKING IS THE #1 TONER of your BODY & all of its organs & tissues! Also for your mind it helps to process things! There is nothing like going out for a walk to breathe fresh air in & get your heart pumping! I find the healing benefits of walking ALONE to be really great! But walks w/ a partner are great too! Krista & I each do our own solo walks, plus do walks together!
— When you wake up in the morning, a great habit to acquire is to first have a glass of fresh spring water w/ a lemon squeezed into it, which helps to flush out everything thru the kidneys & colon from the night before.
— Move towards whole, organic & unprocessed food! This change will most likely NOT just happen overnight, so take your time, having cooked foods is okay just have ones that are less processed & that are as natural as possible.
— Focus on having fruit as your breakfast! Or a smoothie! In a blender just blend together a couple of bananas, a bit of water, a handful of leafy greens like spinach, maybe an apple and/or a tablespoon of a supplement like a green powder and/or a healthy oil like hemp oil. http://BLEND.life-regenerator.com
— Consuming primarily high-water fruits & vegetables + walking + resting are THE BEST things that one can do to lose weight both quickly & healthfully!
— If you just start...you're going to be experiencing miracles very soon & will not want to stop getting more & more healthy!
YOU CAN DO THIS! :D

organic blablablablaba.... just dont think about food and? do cardio. you'll lose weight in a heartbeat.
mhmcupcakes 2 months agoAs many of you may know, the majority of muscle in the arm comes from the triceps. While the biceps is one of the showier muscles in the body, it's the triceps that fill up the T-shirt and make the professional athlete's arms pop out of their uniforms. Now, athleanx.com and celebrity fitness trainer Jeff Cavaliere will show you a short circuit workout that you can do to get "bigger triceps" in just three weeks.
The triceps are one of the main pushing muscles in your upper body. They help to support the chest muscles and shoulder / delt muscles to do their job. When the triceps are strong, all of your other lifts in the gym become easier. Also, when the triceps are big...people take notice as they see your "guns" filling up your sleeves.
My top professional athletes and celebrities know what I mean when I say the "Twisted Triceps" workout is coming. It means, sore triceps the next day! It also means bigger arms guaranteed. Start doing exactly what my guys are doing today by using this very same workout. Get bigger triceps in just three weeks!
Then, head over to http://www.athleanx.com/ pick up your copy of the AthLEAN-X Training System to get the same body as the professional athletes, without having to look like one!
There is no such thing as "6-pack abs fast". You cant buy 6-pack abs from an infomercial or get them from a bottle. Getting 6-pack abs is simple but takes alot of work - eat less and exercise more. This video goes into depth on nutrition for muscle gain and weight loss. I show you 8 very healthy meals that you can make in 3 minutes or less.
Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

I started passionately studying what lean people were doing in 1981 because my waistline was 40 inches. I have learned a lot since then. I am now in the best shape of my life at the age of 44.
My waistline is now 31 inches. Nutrition is 60-70% of your fat loss / muscle gain program. Follow me & I will teach you exactly how to eat for your body type, activity level, starting point, & your goals.
You can work-out till your blue in the face but if you do not incorporate Interval Cardio (done first thing in the morning in a fasted state), intense functional multi-joint, compound exercises, small healthy meals often with protein and carbs combined together, positive mindset, goal setting & social support (you will turn into who you hang around) you will not change your body much.
But if you do focus on the 5 pillars of fitness & health, you will radically change your waistline, your lifestyle, and your life.
YOUR ATTITUDE WILL DETERMINE YOUR ALTITUDE (how high you go in life) YOUR WAISTLINE DETERMINES YOU ATTITUDE
GET A BETTER BODY; GET A BETTER LIFE!!
The main reason to workout abs is because strong abs will stabilize your lower back and prevent you from an injury; but as a side benefit a 6-pack looks great! Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding.
Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A couple of rubber bands & some good exercises is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.
You do not need any equipment. In fact most of the clubs are wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars on equipment that is making peoples bodies less functional and worse off. I highly advice you to pick one mentor at a time, limit your information, train hard & smart, and expect success!!
I'll teach you how to gain muscle lose fat the right way... which is alot easier then you think. Bodybuilders are not the only ones that burn fat and still increase muscle.
Fat burning power comes from eating more often. If you want to burn away belly fat you can do that but you will also have fat loss in other areas of your body... with is healthy and want you want. If you looking for the best fat burner in the world...
You have found it it's called the Darin Steen Pill. I have an uncanny ability to motivate, inspire, and inform you. I believe in you and you in turn will start to believe in yourself.

As with all dumbbell exercises, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Don't use too much weight, if you can't do the exercise slowly then you need to go lighter. Count aloud "one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand" on the way up and the way down, if you cant do this on this exercise then you are using too much weight. The reason this exercise method maximizes your muscle growth is because it confines the motion to the muscle you are trying to work out, if your body squirms, swings, and kicks, all you are doing is taking the focus away from the muscle you are trying to exercise.
Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Most people wanting to know how to lose weight fast often forget the 'safe' part. They are so eager to lose that they are willing to compromise their health. The truth is, anybody can lose weight as long as they identify the strategies that work for them. Most people who fail at losing weight do so because they try to make themselves do things they do not want to do. Here are three strategies they may work for you. Contact me and I'll send you 50 more strategies that help others lose weight everyday.
Eat Smaller Portions
Knowing how to lose weight is a no-brainer. Here's the first thing you should do. Americans and perhaps others around the world as well, have gotten used to larger food portions. Who knows where this started? When you eat out at a restaurant, remind your self that not only do you not need to eat the whole thing, but you shouldn't. One nice trick you can use is to tell the waiter to box up half of the meal before she/he brings it out to you. This way, you will never feel the need to eat it right then. Eat the other half for lunch the next day.
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables are a Must
If you want to lose weight, you have to replace the unhealthy foods you eat with fresh fruits and vegetables. The government suggests that you eat five servings a day. I think you need to eat more.
Keeping lots of fruits and vegetables around can prevent you from unhealthy snacking. Some of my most unhealthy eating occurs when I get the munchies and there is nothing health around to eat. I go into a convenience store and the only thing available is junk food and other unhealthy snacks.
Keep a bowl of fruits and vegetables in several places in your house and on your desk at work. When you get hungry, you will reach for that bowl instead of a candy bar or other unhealthy food. This is the key to knowing how to lose weight successfully.
Make Sure Your Goals Are Attainable
Losing too much weight too fast is not healthy. Most health experts agree that it is not healthy to lose more than two pounds a week. Losing more than that can really harm your body. No matter how much you really want to lose a lot of weight fast, you are better off capping it a two pounds max a week. Or, maybe two pounds a week is not attainable for you. If that is the case, then set a goal of losing one pound a week. If you could maintain that for one year, you could lose 52 pounds. That is very significant, healthy and doable.
Do not fret if you do not think any of these strategies can work for you. Knowing how to lose weight fast is knowing that you should only focus on the strategies that work for you. Keep a list of every tip you come across and seeing if they work for you is the key.
If you wanted to know how I did it, and how I intend on maintaining my current weight, then these weight loss tips are for you.

Here are my 3 favorite abdominal exercises in which none involve lying on your back and curling your shoulder blades off the ground, or any type of movement that requires you to perform hundreds of situps while lying on the ground.
These 3 ab exercises can be performed in circuit fashion for an excellent abdominal workout that will work your abs really well and help burn belly fat without placing stress on your lower back.
The first exercise is the ab wheel. To begin you want to put your knees on the ground and place your body in the upright position. Rollout, keeping your back straight, while squeezing your abs and then return to the starting position. Repeat.
Next, you will immediately move on to stability ball jackknives. There are all sorts of variations of this exercise. For example, you can rest your elbows on a bench with your feet on a stability ball, placing your body in a plank-like position. In this case, you will brace your abs and tuck your knees into your chest and then back out.
To make this exercise even more difficult you can do one-leg stability ball jackknives. So, when one leg tucks in, the other kicks out.
You may also want to try stability ball jackknives with a bit of rotation. This will involve bringing your knees to one side and then to the other.
Another alternative is to perform stability ball jackknives with your hands on the ground, with an additional push up added in for good measure.
The final abdominal exercise in this circuit is the cross body mountain climber. Instead of the regular mountain climber where you bring your knees to your chest, with the rotation you are going to bring your knee to the opposite elbow. This way you include a rotation element and work your abs extra hard.
These abs exercises will give you great results, burn belly fat, and get you ripped abs!

The common practice of requiring physicians-in-training to work many double, and even triple, shifts results in performance reductions equivalent to the effects of drinking several ounces of alcohol, according to a new study led by a University of Michigan sleep researcher published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Depending on the type of medical or surgical care they decide to specialize in, young doctors can spend anywhere from three to 12 years in training. The first year - the internship - is considered the most intense.
Thirty-four Brown University Medical School pediatric residents completed standardized tests following two different schedules: a month of 44-hour work weeks in office-based clinics with no overnight duties; and a month of 90-hour work weeks, including day shifts in the hospital's wards or intensive care units, plus overnight shifts once every four or five nights.
Vigilance, Attention
Following the month of longer hours, the doctors' vigilance, attention and driving skills were found to be impaired. Their test responses were equivalent to their performance after consuming three to four alcoholic drinks following a month of lighter duties.
"This adds to the growing evidence that sleep deprivation among medical residents significantly impairs their ability to perform, although it is important to note that we did not assess performance on specific medical tasks," says J. Todd Arnedt, PhD, a sleep psychologist who is a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and neurology at the U-M Medical School. Arnedt works in the the U-M Sleep Disorders Center and the U-M Depression Center Sleep & Chronophysiology Laboratory.
Three Hours Sleep
Sleep diaries and an automatic wrist-watch activity monitor verified that the residents on heavy work shifts got significantly less sleep per night on average than those with lighter schedules during the study period.
In the 24 hours leading up to the test days, residents on a light schedule slept an average of 6 hours and 37 minutes, compared with about 3 hours for the residents on a heavy schedule.
The residents were tested four times, in two separate sessions. Two of the tests were completed after they had worked a month of light duty without overnight shifts; the tests were given before and after they consumed three to four alcoholic drinks.
In the second session, they were tested on the day after an overnight shift that came at the end of a month of 90-hour work weeks. During this session, they were tested before and after drinking a non-alcoholic placebo beverage. Of primary interest were the tests conducted after they had drunk either the alcohol or the placebo.
Performance, Effort
The researchers asked the residents to rate their performance and effort on the tests. Ratings of impaired performance were higher following the month of heavy work shifts compared to the light schedules.
Residents also rated their effort as higher after heavy work shifts compared to the lighter shifts with alcohol.
In addition, the residents rated their levels of sleepiness. During the heavy call month, they felt more tired than during the light-call month, even after they had consumed alcohol on the light-call rotation.
They were not allowed to nap on the test day or to use caffeine after noon. All of the tests were conducted at 3 pm.
Reducing Fatigue-Related Impairment
Most of the tests took place before new work-hour restrictions were imposed by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in 2003.
Residents now are subject to the following rules: an 80-hour weekly work-hour limit; a 24-hour limit on continuous duty time; in-house call duty no more than once every three nights; and one day in seven free from all patient care and educational obligations. All requirements are averaged over four weeks.
The new regulations are "a good initial step," Arnedt noted, "but the solution to the problem is not likely as simple as well-intentioned policies aimed at reducing work hours, which can themselves have negative ramifications," he pointed out.
"Our study, like others before it, does raise concerns about the performance of sleep deprived physicians-in-training and suggests that strategies aimed at reducing fatigue-related impairments are likely necessary," Arnedt said.
Alcohol Comparison
Arnedt and his colleagues are the first to study medical residents using the sleep deprivation and alcohol comparison model, which has been used in other p! opulations, including truck drivers. Both sleep deprivation and alcohol consumption impair a person's reaction time, attention, judgment, control and driving ability.
In a Harvard University study published earlier this year, the authors found that interns were more likely to have an automobile crash or near-miss while driving after an extended work shift.
Arnedt's team found that skills on a driving simulator deteriorated in residents who were tested after an overnight shift in the hospital at the end of a month of heavy night work. The findings from these studies suggest that the personal safety of residents who drive home after working all night may be at risk.
"We need to continue to find simple, practical and effective strategies that hospitals and senior doctors can take to reduce sleep deprivation among residents," says Arnedt.

For more information on home workouts, please see my free website (no advertising either):

The 'Rule Of 3' Meets Pareto's '80/20' And You Get Fit Faster As A Result!
Everybody likes simple lists.
Everybody likes Rules Of Thumb.
And as far as I can tell, everyone wants tighter abs and more energy.
So, naturally, we all look for the "best" diets and the "best" training routines to bring us closer to that six-pack...ideally, in the least amount of time possible.
...Oh yeah--and we don't want to think too hard either!
The Old Way:
Counting calories? Fuh-ged-a-bow-dit!
Getting a bodyfat measurement each week? No way!
Calculating our new "estimated 1-rep max" for 27 different exercises? Puh-leeze.
So what's the solution?
Well, if you don't mind limiting our example to exercise for the moment, I think I have a few things that can help you in your endless search for the most efficient use of your fitness time.
(which is like, what? about 45 minutes a day 3-4 times a week if you're lucky?) ...It's OK--you're human! I do this stuff for a living, and I don't spend much more time than that myself.
Introducing: "The Rule Of 3-80/20 (Principle)"
Any activity of importance (like exercise) can be broken down into three, and only three Critical Success Factors. Furthermore, one of these critical success factors should account for 80% of your efforts. And the other two, on average, just 10% of your time, energy, and effort (that is, of course, if you actually want to get anything done).
Thus sayeth The Fitness Sage (that's me).
And you should listen to me when it comes to getting things done, because I have a Masters Degree *and* ADD (attention deficit disorder). Without principles like the above, I would be hocking blackmarket Pi-Tae-Boga-Lates tapes to out-of-work actors in LA.
Yeah, so I'm ripping off the Pareto Principle and the Rule Of 3, but you'll forgive me real quick when you see how this applies to your exercise routine.
Now that I've circumnavigated my point a few times, here it is real simple, in 3 (surprise, surprise) easy steps:
The Three Critical Exercise Routine Success Factors
1. Consistent Progression: Needs 80% of your time and attention.
2. Sufficient Intensity: Needs 15% of your time and attention.
3. Intelligent Evolution: Needs 5% of your time and attention.
Simple huh?
But maybe you need some clarification, so here goes.
Consistent Progression Explained:
There are really just 3-4 workout parameters that even matter to the average Jane or Joe who wants a good body and excellent health: Rest Period, Load, Reps-Per-Set, and Total Number Of Sets.
So your job is to simply pick one of these, hold all the rest constant, and improve your chosen workout parameter from week-to-week, workout-to-workout until you can no longer do so (just remember to hold everything else constant! especially total workout duration).
When you can't improve on your chosen parameter, pick a different one and repeat.
That's it. It really is that simple. Tools needed: 1 pocket-sized notebook and a stopwatch.
Of course, you might want some proven, superior methods to "improve on your chosen parameter." At the bottom of this article, you'll get your wish! But first...
Sufficient Intensity Explained:
Make sure you're doing resistance training folks. Not aerobics. Not LSD (long slow distance cardio). Or any other fitness fad that makes your lungs burn more than your muscles. If you're consistently getting 20+ reps on all your exercises, then you need to choose more difficult exercises. Period.
Cardio and aerobics have health benefits no doubt, but if you're really looking for "bang-for-your-fitness-buck", and you're short on time, then stick with resistance training. It's the only kind of exercise that builds muscle and boosts your metabolism permanently--not just during your workout.
Shoot for exercises that are so difficult, you can only perform between 1 and 15 reps. This could be weightlifting (if you lack the creativity and sophistication of a "Tao Of Functional Fitness" devotee who relies solely on portable exercise equipment--like Fitness Bands--and their own bodyweight), but it doesn't have to be. If you know how to manipulate leverage, even bodyweight only exercises can be made difficult enough.
Why just 15% of your time worrying about this? Because all you have to do is make sure most of your exercise (excluding a proper warmup of course) falls within this rep range. Not exactly rocket-science. Nuff said.
Intelligent Evolution:
This is just another term for "periodization" or "cyclic training." Basically it means that you need a strategy for changing your exercise routine over the long haul as you get stronger and closer to realizing your goals. Most of the time the Consistent Progression rule takes care of this, hence the paltry 5% of your noggin that's required to intelligently evolve.
But over the long haul, you sometimes need to dramatically change your workout protocol. There's not space here to explore all the ins-and-outs of doing this, but a simplified recommendation would be to cycle between phases where you focus on increasing the Average Load you handle during your workouts, and phases where you're more concerned with the Amount Of Work Per Unit Time you perform (i.e. "Strength" vs. "Density").
Conclusion
Consistent Progression (80%) + Sufficient Intensity (15%) + Intelligent Evolution (5%).
Find an exercise routine that gives you that, and you're on to something!

THE NEXT STAGE: ACTION
The next stage of Prochaska's Transtheoretical model - 'Action' - kicks in once you've started taking (you guessed it) action.
If you're in this stage, you're ready to make changes - and now. In the Action stage, you know where you want to be, how you'll get there, and you've started (or are about to start) doing something get you moving. You've made it past the first major sticking point -overcoming inertia, but that doesn't mean it'll be an easy ride from here. No matter how good your intentions, starting a routine isn't the same as maintaining it. Obstacles - whether small (like an invitation to do something at a time you'd planned on working out) or large (like falling ill or injuring yourself) - are going to come up.
DEALING WITH OBSTACLES
When you encounter an obstacle, take a little time out to reconnect with your main goal and your reasons for wanting to achieve it. Remember why you're exercising in the first place. How could you still achieve your goal, and find ways around this new obstacle? Your journal can be your friend here - use it to reflect back over why something may have ended up being more difficult than expected, and to brainstorm ideas for different ways to move forward. You can also use it to proactively motivate yourself before obstacles appear - to track your progress in whatever area you'd like to see yourself improving.
GET OTHERS INVOLVED
If you haven't already, create an exercise routine that gets friends or family involved. Studies have shown that people whose friends or family support their goals are far more likely to achieve them, and it's hard not to feel supported when people you care about are working out alongside you. Not only that, but if you've agreed to meet your 'workout buddy' for an exercise session, you make it that much harder to let them down by deciding at the last minute you just can't be bothered today.
MAKE DEALS WITH YOURSELF
If you're having trouble summoning the motivation to get out the door, promise yourself you don't have to finish your workout if you don't want to. Decide that you only have to complete the first ten minutes, and then, if you really don't feel like keeping at it, give yourself permission to pack up and go home again. Most of the time, just getting out the door and starting will be enough.
For a short term motivational quick-fix, don't underestimate the power of bribery! Identify three or four different little things that bring you pleasure, and promise yourself you'll take time out and indulge in at least one of them if you complete your workout as scheduled.
GET HELP!
Finally, if you're noticing increasing difficulty motivating yourself despite trying all of the above suggestions, consider talking to a personal trainer near you. A big part of qualifying as a trainer involves not just learning specific exercises, but learning how to keep clients motivated. If cost is an issue for you, think seriously about hiring an online trainer.
Generally, online training is far more reasonably priced than face-to-face training - and if all you're wanting is someone to keep you enthusiastic and accountable, it means you're not paying for services you don't need.
In next issue's conclusion to our Exercise & Motivation series, we look at the final stage of Prochaska's model - and what to do if you find yourself in the dreaded 'Relapse' stage. Until then, may every day bring you closer to your optimum life!

Today, drugs in some professional sports have become mainstream. The hypocrisy of Major League Baseball serves as a wake up call for an American culture that indulges in careless living by risking its health through poor nutrition, alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, etc. Before we can hope to see bodybuilding return to its roots in physical culture, we will first have to witness a 'new way of life' throughout our society.
Since the early days of physical culture, modern man has been searching for the elusive "Fountain of Youth". The promise of radiant health, enduring strength and a Herculean physique has drawn millions on this quest for physical perfection.
Through the early decades of bodybuilding, the forefathers of physical culture established basic guidelines for the muscle enthusiast to follow. Natural foods, resistance training, plenty of rest, and a positive outlook in life were the primary ingredients for achieving ones goals. The demand for knowledge on 'how to' reach the stars would result in millions of booklets being sold by mail order, while magazine stands and bookshelves were continually restocked with the latest 'muscle building secrets'. Tons of steel and exercise equipment would find its way into the homes of thousands of Americans all across our nation. Health clubs and iron gyms would sprout up in local neighborhoods and towns, while physique competitions were held to determine who the best in the land was. The strong roots of physical culture were taking grip in our society, and the mighty oak of bodybuilding would soon branch out through every city in America.
A new 'way of life' became a reality for many as the 'body beautiful' movement swung into high gear. For decades the much traveled road to muscledom kept its promise, then by the mid-60's what seemed pure and natural took a wrong turn setting the course of modern bodybuilding down a dead end. The introduction of anabolic steroids into the sport of bodybuilding would usher in a new era of super sized and equally strong muscular physiques that would attract millions of young men with a desire to achieve the same naturally unattainable goals.
Along with the growth of the sport, the physiques continued to become bigger and more vascular as bodybuilders experimented with 'stacking' the latest in designer muscle enhancing pharmaceuticals. Magazine and ticket sales were at a peak and bodybuilding competitions were seen regularly on network TV. The popularity of the sport was soaring high. Then, what could have been mostly prevented by not promoting and rewarding individuals whose physiques were chemically altered became a reality as the widespread use of drugs in the sport became relevant.
Words such as steroids, cycling, and growth hormones became common place in our gyms, and juicing no longer meant enjoying your favorite health drink. Reports of bodybuilders on dialysis and with heart ailments became a frequent occurrence while the eventual death of several competitive pros hit home hard. What had been a dark cloud in a sport with such great potential turned into a storm that spread its vast shadow on a culture that once shined.
Organizations dedicated to natural bodybuilding and a healthy lifestyle would soon respond to the call for a return to the ideals set forth by the forefathers of physical culture. Physique promoters throughout the land created natural bodybuilding competitions so athletes could compete on a level playing field without running the risk of ruining their health. Publications featuring natural bodybuilders began to spread the gospel of healthy living through proper nutrition and exercise. The televised media developed new bodybuilding and fitness programs to inspire future generations of natural iron pumpers. And as the age of cyber space came upon us, the Internet became a resource of concepts and opinions for bodybuilders to learn and express their views with other physique artist throughout the World. The new millennium is here and those dedicated to physical culture have begun to prevail as the radiant beacon of light from the torch of natural living begins to shine through the storm.

Exercising is a great way to keep yourself fit and healthy, but there is also a risk of injury. However, if you follow some basic guidelines, and stay within your physical limits, you can ensure that you'll have an enjoyable and safe workout.
Warm ups:
Warm ups are essential... this cannot be stressed on enough. Starting an exercise routine without warm ups can be very damaging to your body.
It is always advisable to do some relatively gentle exercise to warm up your muscles, so that they'll be less susceptible to damage that may occur during exercises. Also, they'll ensure that they get more flexible and limber.
Just spend a few minutes getting warmed up. About 5 to 10 minutes should do. Stretch muscles and other soft tissues. This will prepare your body for the more rigorous exercise that is going to follow, and help you go for a longer period of time without feeling tired or fatigued.
The right get-up:
Fitness wear is very important. Only if you are at ease and comfortable in what you're wearing, can you perform to your optimum potential.
The right shoes are imperative. They must be suited to the type of exercise that you are doing. When buying a pair of fitness shoes, always consult with the staff at a sports equipment store, and ask for their advice. The wrong type of shoes can lead to sprains and even long-term injury.
Clothes, too, must be comfortable, loose-fitting, and, ideally, made out of a fabric that absorbs sweat, like cotton. Very tight fitting clothes can be uncomfortable, and extremely loose clothes can get in the way.
Don't compromise when it comes to fitness wear.
Cool down:
Don't come to a sudden halt in between strenuous workouts. This causes the blood to pool in your leg veins, and can leave you feeling dizzy and faint. Give time for the lactic acid being produced by your muscles during vigorous activity to be cleared by finishing your session with a few minutes of gentle exercise.
Change and Alternate:
It is a good idea if you combine strenuous activity with something that is comparatively less physically demanding. This lessens your chances of over-exerting yourself, and gives your body more time to recover from bouts of intense activity.
Stop when it starts hurting:
If exercising starts to hurt, stop until the pain has completely gone away. Saying like 'no pain, no gain' should be ignored, since they make you push yourself beyond your physical limits... which isn't a good thing, after all. If you experience physical discomfort and things like dizziness, faintness, nausea, shortness of breath etc, please visit your doctor right away.
Also, avoid exercising when you are unwell or sick.

Aging, a steady decline:
The History of the world is filled with stories of individuals trying to find eternal youth. Wealthy people going to private centers for magic elixirs. Many individuals taking megadoses of certain vitamins, drink green tea, use coenzyme Q10 etc, hoping to find the "fountain of youth". Lets take a closer look and see what happens to our bodies as we age.
Time, our worst enemy:
Growth Hormone declines steadily at the age of 31 and at the rate of 14% per decade. Along with aging, we become vulnerable to diseases. Our ability to fight illness declines, the body's ability to metabolize sugar, handle cholesterol, and clear the kidneys of toxins, becomes more and more difficult. Ultimately, the slow deadly disease of aging creeps in.
As a person ages, hormone levels fall. Decreasing levels of certain hormones shows symptoms such as: gray hairwrinkly skinreduced skin thicknessforgetfulnesslow sex driveweight gain bone or joint problemsimmune system weakensdecreased muscle strengthThese symptoms can be the possible result of, reduced Human Growth Hormone. Until age 21, Human Growth Hormone is abundant in the body being solely responsible for muscle building, bone growth, skin elasticity, increased energy, lean body mass, and sexual vigor.
Graying Hair
Gray hair is caused by the slowing production of melanin over time within the hair follicles. When this happens, the hair follicles produce less and less melanin, and the result is a loss of hair, color and strength.
The Skin
Hormonal breakdown and free radicals is the major contributor of skin aging because of the reduction of the body's Hormone production or lack of. Hormones such as Human Growth Hormone and testosterone are only produced in noticeable quantities up to the age of 20. These Hormones are responsible for physical fitness, regeneration and the immune system. Due to a declining Hormone level, the breakdown of organs, tissues and cells begins.
Another factor are free radicals. These are parts of molecules that are found in the Human Body. As a result of external factors such as ultraviolet light (too much sun), smoking or unhealthy eating habits, under these circumstances free radicals are inclined to react. Meaning that they are in search of other chemical substances to bond themselves with. Ultimately, the breakdown of the skin begins. The body protects itself against these aggressors with naturally occurring anti-oxidant's. Until you reach the age of twenty and onwards, this natural defense mechanism slowly declines, until eventually the skin can no longer defend itself.
What can be done about aging?
Well, about your actual age nothing, but could a healthier lifestyle, proper diet, or maybe vitamin and supplement intake, would that help turn back the aging clock? Is there something out there that could: Alleviate menopausal and premenstrual symptoms Reduce body fat Restore gray hair Increase energy Increase sex drive enhancement in both men and womenRestore the function of organs and glands Improve memoryImprove vision Enhance one's spirits Stabilize blood pressureEnhance the immune systemWell quite possibly, there just might be! Jumbomomo 6 days ago 39 Sorry, I could not read the content fromt this page.As many of you may know, the majority of muscle in the arm comes from the triceps.
