SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Vitamin maker Schiff Nutrition International Inc. said Thursday that its fiscal second quarter net income rose 17 percent on stronger sales of branded products like Schiff MegaRed Extra Strength and Schiff Move Free Ultra.
The company increased advertising for its branded products during the quarter. Private label sales declined.
Net income rose to $2.4 million, or 8 cents per share. That compares with $1.8 million or 6 cents per share last year.
Revenue rose 16 percent to $61 million from $52.6 million a year ago.
The company expects net sales will rise 12 to 15 percent in fiscal 2012.
Schiff shares fell 16 cents to $11.99 in morning trading.
